Trans Rights and Liberation D’var Torah at Kol Tzedek

June 15, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Join us for Kol Tzedek’s joyful, participatory Shabbat morning services. Using the Kol HaNeshama prayerbook, we follow the traditional “matbeah” (service outline) while integrating song, moments of reflection and meditation, and study. The torah reading and aliyot (or honors) is often a time in which we celebrate an upcoming simcha (joyous occasion) such as a baby or a couple about to be married, or welcome a new Jew by choice into the community.

Stefan Lynch, whose term as KT’s President just ended, will be giving the dvar torah about trans issues at KT—particularly as we negotiate with other Calvary users over bathroom policies and just having signed a 7-year contract with our trans Rabbi.

  • 10am-12pm: Morning services
  • 11am-12pm: Tot Shabbat with Galia Godel (downstairs)
  • 10am-12pm:  Kids’ Shabbat  for school-aged kids (upstairs)
  • 12pm-1pm: Communal meal

It is Kol Tzedek’s custom to have our youngest children parade with the Torah at the end of the Tot Shabbat. Torah School-aged students (Kindergarten and up) are encouraged to join us at 10:00 for kids’ services and learning.

The entire community joins together for final prayers, kiddush, motzei, and a communal meal around 12:15pm.
